Hidden away behind the busy shopping street Kalverstraat in Amsterdam, lies an art gallery famously known as Schuttersgalerij or Civic Guards Gallery.
It is part of Amsterdam Museum (right next to it) and according to the website, it is called The Amsterdam Gallery.
The Civic Guards Gallery is actually a small glass-roofed passageway, filled with Golden Age civic guards paintings and new modern spoofs made between 1530 and 2007. The main attraction is the 350-year-old wooden giant Goliath with David on his side naturally.
A wonderful detour from the commercial streets!
