World Press Photo @ De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam.
The famous international press photo exhibition featuring powerful and explosive images about the reality of our world today.
My favorite: “Crying Girl on the Border”.
Captured on June 12th, 2018, the photo shows 2-year-old Honduran toddler Yanela Sanchez crying helplessly as she and her mother, Sandra Sanchez, are taken into custody by US border officials in McAllen, Texas, USA.
As a parent, this captured image is just heartbreaking to see. It was a controversial policy at the time. Many apprehended parents were separated from their children and sent to different detention facilities. You get the narrative.
“Crying Girl on the Border” by photographer John Moore is the winner of this prestigious World Press Photo Contest 2019.
World Press Photo 2019 exhibition is on-going from now till 7 July 2019.
