MARSEPEINEN VARKEN / MARZIPAN PIG

I do not quite get this one – Marsepeinen Varken.
The literal translation is Marzipan Pig.

Basically, marzipan is a sweet yellow paste, mixture of ground almonds, sugar and egg whites. It is typically used to coat cakes or to make confectionery mold, which in this case molded into this creepy but adorable pig.
Such ‘Marzipan Pig’ is a traditional confectionery usually for sale during the festive month of October, November and December. You can buy the entire pig or small chunks of it.
Supposedly, this tradition is a symbol of good fortune.

Would you eat this? Is this really Dutch??
