HET STRAATJE or THE LITTLE STREET

This is the location of “Het Straatje” or “The Little Street”, a painting by Johannes Vermeer executed around 1657-1658.

Vlamingstraat 40–42

The property on the right in the painting belonged to Vermeer’s aunt, Ariaentgen Claes van der Minne. The passageway beside the house was known as the Penspoort or Tripe Gate.

The exact location where Vermeer painted “Het Straatje” is at Vlamingstraat 40–42 in the center of Delft.
