Geitenboederij (translated: goat farm) Ridammerhoeve is located within the Amsterdamse Bos.
Despite the name, this working organic farm also has chickens, cows, pigs, horses and ponies.
The farm also grows their own organic vegetables and herbs and a farm shop is on site selling homemade goat cheese, eggs, goat milk, etc.
All animals roam freely on the grounds with several sections open to public. Feel free to pet the animals or feed the young goats bottled milk sold at the farm shop/restaurant for €0.50 per bottle. I was told there are about 150 goats! You can continue to feed the chicken or goats a handful of dry tidbits for €0.20 from a dispenser nearby. It is possible to buy your own self-picked eggs and even milk a goat at the end of afternoon.
While your kids entertain themselves around the animals, at the playground or by the labyrinth on the field, have yourself a break at the restaurant. It has a great indoor space and an outdoor terrace for a cappuccino, a small lunch or goat’s milk ice cream. Only food & beverages purchased at the restaurant may be consumed on premises.
Geitenboederij conducts workshops and activities such as cheese making, birthday parties, breakfast, high-tea, etc. Small organic farmers market is happening on Saturdays.
Opening hours: 1000 hrs – 1700hrs Weekdays; closed on Tuesdays. Weekends open till 1900hrs.
Where: Nieuwe Meerlaan 4, 1182DB Amstelveen
You can easily spend more than a few hours right here at this forestry area. Absolutely fantastic for kids! Not so fond of the strong ‘farm smell’ at the end of the day. Double check every one’s shoes for dung/poop before you get into your car or bus. Seriously!
